Music and Me, The Psyche of Addis

To start us off, Welcome to what I hope to be a very informative and inspiring blog (for the sake of my class) I'm Andrew Addis, and this is where I ask the question, "Where and Why is music?" So let's hop in, shall we.

First I bring you my current C.S.O.C. or "Current Song Of Choice"
Father John Misty - Josh Tillman and the Accidental Dose

    - I was immediately hooked when I heard the opening descending G harmonic with some chromatic notes. If you know me, you know I live and bleed Jazz. So, to listen to it being used somewhat through a new-modern lens is truly remarkable. I was also gifted with the rough scratch of bows dragging against the strings of cellos. The lyrics and soft tone of the artist's voice also play a part in my liking of the song. I hope you can also find the same enjoyment that I did.

    Time for a little vulnerability-ish.
Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day

    - This song first started as a comfortable, atmospheric, acoustic, melancholy joy. It has now turned into a comfortable, grounding, bittersweet song. What started as a connection ended in a memory.

    Don't even get me started...
Kid Rock - All Summer Long

    - I've only ever appreciated any sort of sampling when it comes to hip-hop songs, not a Kid Rock song. Using Wearwolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama still did not give the song justice, but to each their own as everyone should be respected for their music because, in the end, no matter what you think, it's still someone's art.

Music is subjective, yet so are opinions. Allow yourself to feel, think, and object. Allow yourself to be human.
